Early in March we opened registration for Religious Education through ParishGiving.org. If you were registered last year, you should have received a welcome letter inviting you to register. Guidance we have received, and the circumstances we face, makes it appear highly likely that we will remain remote through at least December of 2021. The unlikelihood of childhood vaccination, and the fact that we share space with our fully functioning Catholic School, makes holding in-person sessions extremely complicated.
The only hope to returning to in-person sessions would be an extreme level of volunteer involvement. To assure social distancing, class sizes would need to be limited to a maximum of 10 students, requiring a greater number of classes being offered. Those volunteers would need to either be comfortable with video conferencing technology (or highly open to being trained) as we would begin remote and need to return if there are any cases within our community.
We are working to assure that students will have access both to physical texts, and digital, and access to Flip Grid, so that we can easily transition from remote to in-person and back as needed. As this year approaches, if volunteers are available, we would like to offer more robust remote support, and weekly video meetings for each grade level.
Please pray and consider whether you are being called to serve as a Catechist this year! If so, please contact [email protected].
