Welcome back! I pray you all had a beautiful and (somewhat) restful summer. I can’t believe it is September and children (and their families) are going back to routines.
I mentioned last week in my enewsletter that the theme for this year in Religious Education is “Look Up”. As you can imagine, there are some many places I am going with those two, simple words. For now, I am going to leave you in suspense until next Sunday, which is…..
Catechetical Sunday, September 17! I ask that all children and teachers/catechists in our Parish join us for the 10am Mass. This includes Catholic School, Public School, PREP, anywhere you teach or are students. There will be a special blessing for everyone starting school this year. For Sunday and Tuesday PREP children only: There will be a meeting before Mass, beginning promptly at 8:45am in the school gym.
Be sure to visit us during ParishFest on September 17. Among all ministries that will be present that day, there are many opportunities to see how your family can be involved in the Parish. Learn about Religious Education, sacramental preparation, St. Paul School, Mother/Daughter Tea, St. Paul Youth (SPY) Group, as well as two new initiatives we hope to launch this year, “Walking with Purpose” (a woman’s group) and Exceptional Saints (for families of children with special needs).
The Sarubbi girls started their senior year of college. They are beginning to truly appreciate the gifts God has blessed them with and find their path in life. As all parents, Joe and I are excited to see what the future holds. It is amazing how quickly the years have flown by. It seems like yesterday we brought them to St. Paul School for their orientation day at Kindergarten with Mrs. Brennan and Mrs. Maguire. Parents could join their child for the morning and, since we had three children, we invited both sets of grandparents to join us! I thought of that a few weeks ago when God called my dad home. Life has a funny way of making you stop and look up, whether you are prepared for those life changes or not. So instead on dwelling on the past or stressing about what tomorrow will bring, I’m going to work hard to live for today and be thankful for the present God has given us.
